We’re looking for volunteer advisers to help people with social welfare issues such as benefits, housing and the rights of employees. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills and to contribute to the wellbeing of the local community.

No previous experience is needed and training will be provided, but volunteers will need to be comfortable speaking to clients face to face and enjoy researching issues to solve problems. Volunteers will also need to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic IT skills such as using word processing software and email. All of these competencies will be tested during the induction period and successful applicants will be invited to join the full training course.

The closing date for applications is the 20th of March 2017. The induction day will be held on the 28th of March and the first training day will be the 18th of April. The minimum commitment during the training stage is to attend 10 training days over a 5 week period, with sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the first 6 months after finishing the training, we need a minimum commitment of 10 hours a week over two days.

We're also looking for gateway assessors to work in our contact centre and receptionists for our Carshalton office. These are more flexible roles that are ideal for people with less time to commit. They involve hands-on training and allow you to start working directly with clients in the first 2 - 3 weeks of joining. There are also opportunities to progress to other roles after starting as a gateway assessor or receptionist.

If you are aged between 18 and 25, we can train you for the Level 2 certificate in Supporting Access to Legal Advice, which is awarded by Skills for Justice.
